Almedahls

I'm a huge fan of Scandinavian textiles and there's a whole world of them beyond what Ikea has to offer. Here are some amazing patterns from Almedahls. For more Scandinavian delights and some of the products below check out Just Scandinavian.

Newest Typographer crush!!

Working in the design department of a magazine, I'd definitely heard Jessica Hische's name tossed around here and there. But only recently did I (thank-the-lord!) come across her blog, http://jessicahische.blogspot.com/

She seems like such a cool girl, and is so inspiring to me. I love the fact that she designs all her own typefaces.

Job Letman

The book launch/type event that we attended Tuesday night proved to not leave me empty handed. I purchased said launched book:
and was delighted to find inside my favorite (well one of them) typographers, Job Letman. I somehow stumbled upon his website several months ago and am so thankful I did.

His link is here: http://www.letman.com/#LETMAN

A few delights:

Don't yet know how to post videos, maybe Ashley can help.. but for now, you'll have to look for yourself on his site. If you have like 2 minutes its worth checking out :)

Canvas bags

I never seem to get tired of utilitarian canvas bag shapes. Here are some good ones (numbers go clockwise starting from top left).

Junkmail for sample sales

Most junk mail sucks but when it's a cute card for a sample sale I probably will want to attend I tend to hang on to them.

The top two are from Barney's, the sailboat is John Derian and the last one is Steven Alan.

Design/Type Event

Can't wait to check out the typography exhibition at the new Cooper Union building (which I have also been dying to see in person). I missed the opening a few weeks back, but a friend told me about a book launch party & lecture on type that is happening tomorrow night. Looking forward!

Ruby Suns

I saw the Ruby Suns, a band from New Zealand, open for the Dodos recently. Here's a video for their song Tane Mahuta, a favorite off their album Sea Lion. Kind of a great song for any old mad caper, especially woodland creatures kidnapping a baby.

m0851

m0851 is a Canadian company with a storefront at 106 Wooster here in nyc. Their bags have really beautiful, simple shapes that work on both men and women. The leather is super soft and their products come in a great range of neutral colors. Their trenches and accessories are pretty swell too.

Paper planes

When I was a kid my brother and I would play with balsa wood airplanes that have a rubber band-powered propellor. Recently I found out about these color wings by Flokk, a Japanese company. The colors, packaging, and overall design pretty much put my childhood to shame.

JCrew

JCrew's website has a cute paper type treatment for their holiday gift guide. It reminds me of the work of Yulia Brodskaya, who does pretty amazing things with paper.

Leah Raintree

Leah Raintree is an artist whose work I first saw at the Foley gallery. Her drawings are incredibly intricate and for me following the delicate, undulating lines is mesmerizing.
