Swahili baskets
These Swahili baskets make beautiful laundry hampers or general linen storage. The patterns are pretty great but I like the basic white as well.

A Liberal Education
I love learning. Nerdish as it may sound, I really love NYC for all the opportunities we have in continuing education.
A few classes I'm hoping to take in 2010:
- Calligraphy at The Society of Scribes - I mean how cool to say you are in the Society of Scribes?
In addition, I'd like to take some intro gardening & houseplant classes at The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens
Printmaking classes with Lena Corwin:
And of course, any of the great classes at School of Visual Arts. I've taken 2 typography classes there and really, really loved them. My friend Jenna took 2 art direction/advertising classes and was equally impressed.

Bauhaus at the Moma
I finally was able to check out the Bauhaus show at Moma last night. Sadly I didn't have my camera but I did write down some of the works that stuck out and scavenged the internet for pictures. Moma has a nice website up as well. It's especially amazing to see the textiles and furniture in person so if you have time to make it to the museum before January 25th (and you're willing to brave the Tim Burton crowds) it's totally worth spending some time there.

Arts & Sciences
Some cool embroidery and beading from Arts & Sciences. Unfortunately I don't think they're available in the U.S. but it's fun to flip through their lookbook, I like the soft goods styling and simple line illustrations.

Mucca Design
If you are at all a visual person, you have probably tried a new restaurant or coffee shop solely because their signage & menus were so well designed. May I present to you: Mucca Design. You have seen their work at Schillers Liquor Bar, Balthazar (& Balthazar Bakery), Vini & Olii. The last one I'm not familiar with but I dig the look.
